ZARD Trains Research Assistants for Women and Girls Fund Research Project
The Zambia Association for Research and Development (ZARD) has conducted training for research assistants supporting the Women and Girls Fund (WGF) research project.
Strengthening Research Quality
The training focused on strengthening the capacity of research assistants to undertake their responsibilities effectively and contribute to the generation of credible, high-quality evidence.
Participants were oriented on the research objectives, fieldwork procedures, data collection protocols and the importance of maintaining consistency and accuracy throughout the research process.
Ethics and Participant Protection
Ethical research practice was an important component of the training. Research assistants were guided on informed consent, confidentiality, privacy and respectful engagement with participants.
The training also emphasised safeguarding and the importance of ensuring that the research process respects the rights and dignity of women and girls participating in the study.
Preparing for Evidence Generation
The training represents an important step in ZARD's preparation for implementation of the WGF research activities. By investing in the preparation of the research team, ZARD is strengthening the systems and processes required to generate reliable evidence that can contribute to meaningful development and policy discussions.
The research will contribute to a stronger understanding of women's economic resilience and climate-smart livelihoods, while generating evidence to support gender-responsive climate policy and advocacy.

The Women and Girls Fund (WGF) is funded by the Scottish Government, with programme implementation support from Ecorys UK in partnership with the Forum for African Women Educationalists Zambia (FAWEZA).
